About Us

The South Lake Nonprofit Think Tank (SLNPTT) exists to strengthen our local nonprofit community through collaboration, shared learning, and innovation. We provide a welcoming space where nonprofit leaders can come together to exchange best practices, explore creative solutions, and gain insight into operating and funding successful nonprofit organizations.

In addition, SLNPTT serves as a help directory for community members seeking assistance, connecting residents with trusted local nonprofits that can meet their needs.

Founded by a nonprofit leader with firsthand experience since 2011, the Think Tank was created in response to a common challenge—many nonprofits face similar operational hurdles but rarely have a place to learn from one another. SLNPTT brings organizations together to share knowledge, build capacity, and collectively strengthen the impact of nonprofits across South Lake.

Where there is unity there is strength!

Come share your vision

Nonprofits turn compassion into action and make a real difference in our communities. Across the country, millions of nonprofit organizations work every day to feed, heal, educate, and inspire people from all walks of life.

Running a nonprofit isn’t easy, but we’re stronger when we work together. By sharing ideas, experiences, and solutions, we can overcome challenges and create greater impact—together.

Educating our community leaders

Nonprofits are critical partners in strengthening our community, addressing needs that span arts and culture, education, the environment, healthcare, mental health, human services, and faith-based support. Through an informative workshop, we bring city leaders together with local nonprofits to highlight real community impact, share insights from the front lines, and identify opportunities for collaboration. By working alongside nonprofits, city officials can help remove barriers, leverage resources more effectively, and create solutions that deliver lasting benefits for the entire community.

Benefits of collaboration

Collaboration unlocks what no organization can achieve alone. By sharing resources, nonprofits can reduce costs and focus more energy on mission-driven work. When organizations partner—such as those serving individuals experiencing homelessness with those offering job training—services become stronger and more holistic. Working together also amplifies our collective voice, allowing nonprofits to advocate more effectively for the causes that matter most. Most powerfully, collaboration fuels innovation. When diverse experiences and perspectives come together, new ideas emerge, and real solutions are created. Through our collaborative think tank, we transform shared insight into action and tackle challenges that once seemed unsolvable.

FAQ

What is the purpose of a Think Tank?

Working together with new organizations bringing in different individuals, different experiences and different backgrounds – the perfect mix for new ideas. Our collaborative think tanks can create solutions to problems which previously might have gone unsolved. If your organization wants to continue to move forward in its mission, then bringing in new ideas through nonprofit collaboration is a valuable component.

Why did we create a Think Tank?

It is our intent to unite our nonprofit community to come up with innovative solutions for operating and funding our organizations. To find new ways to collaborate with each other and to create a commonplace for those in the community who are seeking services, to be able to find them.

What are the benefits of attending our Think Tank?

To gain a better understanding of your nonprofit community that surrounds you and having the opportunity to meet and greet and discuss. We all benefit when nonprofits collaborate together discussing topics such as time management, funding challenges, community impact, website and software help, volunteer challenges, and grants and grant writing to name a few. To also help bring awareness to our local officials as a group about the impact nonprofits bring to the community and ways we can partner together.

What is the cost of joining our Think Tank?

There is no cost to join our Think Tank.

How are we funded?

We are funded through donations and sponsorship opportunities.
